Removalist prices in Perth: what a move really costs

Almost every removalist in Perth charges by the hour. The difference is in what the hour includes, when the clock starts, and whether anyone tells you before the day. Here's how ours works.

Our rate, and what it includes

$160 an hour

2-hour minimum. Under two hours gets a set price.

Two movers

Experienced, insured, and the owner is usually one of them.

All the gear

Truck, trolleys, blankets, straps and tools included.

  • The clock starts when we arrive at your home, not when we leave ours. Travel to get to you is free.
  • The clock stops when the truck is back at base in Woodvale. The drive between your addresses and the drive home are on it, and we tell you what that adds before you book.
  • Small jobs get one set price. If the job will take under two hours, you're told a price for the job instead of an hourly rate.
  • You get an estimate of the hours in writing before you book, based on what you tell us is moving and the access at each end.

How long does a move take?

Typical ranges for two movers and a truck, including the drive back to base, for a well-packed home with normal access. These are a guide so you can budget, not a quote. The estimate we give you before you book is the number to rely on.

What changes the hours

How packed you are

Boxes sealed, labelled and stacked near the door is the single biggest time saver. Loose items and half-packed rooms slow a crew down more than anything else.

Stairs, lifts and the carry

A ground-floor home with the truck at the door is the fastest. Internal stairs, an apartment lift or a long carry from the street each add time, and we plan for them when we estimate.

Distance, there and back

The drive between your two addresses is on the clock, and so is the drive back to our base in Woodvale. That is why the northern suburbs are our cheapest jobs and why we show you the return leg up front.

Heavy and awkward pieces

A king bed, a double-door fridge, a heavy dining table or a treadmill all take longer than a box. Tell us about them and the estimate will be right.

Dismantling and reassembly

Beds, tables and cots that need pulling apart and putting back together add time. We bring the tools, but the minutes still count.

Six questions to ask any Perth removalist

Including us. The cheap-looking hourly rate is where most moving-day horror stories start: a minimum nobody mentioned, travel that was never explained, a stairs fee announced with the truck half loaded. Ask these before you book anyone.

  1. 1What is the hourly rate, and how many movers does it include?
  2. 2Is there a minimum, and is it two hours or three?
  3. 3Does the clock include travel, and if so from where to where?
  4. 4Are there extra charges for stairs, heavy items, fuel or weekends?
  5. 5Is the truck, the blankets and the trolleys included or an extra?
  6. 6Will you give me an estimate of the hours in writing before the day?

Pricing questions, answered straight

How much do removalists cost in Perth?

Most Perth removalists charge by the hour for two movers and a truck, typically somewhere between about $110 and $200 an hour, usually with a two or three hour minimum and often with travel or a call-out fee on top. Our rate is $160 an hour with a 2-hour minimum, two movers and all the gear included, and the clock runs from when we arrive until the truck is back at our Woodvale base.

What is the average hourly rate for removalists in Perth?

For two experienced movers and a proper truck, somewhere around $160 to $200 an hour is normal in Perth. Cheaper rates usually mean a smaller truck, fewer movers, extras added on the day, or a rate that only covers part of the job. Always ask what the rate includes.

Do you charge for travel time?

We charge from arrival at your home until the truck is back at base in Woodvale. Travel to get to you is not charged. The drive between your addresses and the drive back are on the clock, and we tell you what that adds before you book.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes, two hours at $160 an hour. If your job will take less than two hours, like a single item or a few pieces, you get one set price instead, and we tell you which applies when we reply to your enquiry.

How do I keep the cost of my move down?

Pack everything before we arrive, stack boxes near the door, empty the drawers, dismantle what you can, and sort parking for the truck at both ends. A well-prepared three-bedroom house can be a four-hour job; the same house half-packed can be six.

Do you give fixed-price quotes for house moves?

No, and you should be careful of anyone who does without seeing the job. House moves are charged by the hour. What we do give you, before you book, is an honest written estimate of how many hours your move should take, so you can budget properly.

Same rate, every suburb

Only the drive back to Woodvale changes. Each suburb page tells you roughly what that is.
